125 Years of Districts Exhibits
The top attraction that Sydney Royal Easter Show attendees list as their must-see is the one and only Districts Exhibit.
Located in the Woolworths Fresh Food Dome, the Districts Exhibits Competition brings together teams from every corner of New South Wales to mount a three-dimensional display consisting of more than 10,000 pieces of local produce.
Four Districts – or “Courts” – compete in the competition, representing the Central, Northern, Southern and Western regions of NSW.
Each District creates their display around a theme. In 2025, Showgoers will recognise callbacks to family-favourite fantasy stories (like Wicked and The Wizard of Oz) and get to see how the Districts Exhibit has evolved over the years.
Everything in the displays have been judged, from the giant pumpkins to the bottles of preserves. All up, over 50 judges evaluate entries across 12 sections spanning wool, grain and vegetables.
As well as the official competitions, the Courts keep up many traditions from their 125-year history, such as the beloved “pumpkin bowling” (a fierce contest where pumpkins are bowled, an onion substitutes the white jack, and a carrot is used to measure distance).
You can meet the community volunteers who represent each Court at the front of the display. It’s also a chance to buy each District’s produce, local honey, fresh fruit, commemorative tea towels, and more.
Before you leave to explore the Showgrounds, don’t forget to also check out the Districts Exhibit Schools Competition display in the Dome Foyer.
